Dr. Nitin Kumar Tripathi is Profesor, Leader, Information and Communication Technology, School of Engineering and Technology; The Coordinator, Remote Sensing and GIS Department in Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand. Prior to this, he also was the Dean, School of Engineering and Technology, Director, Academic Quality, Director, UNIGIS@AIT, Coordinator-Remote Sensing and GIS and Associate Dean in Asian Institute of Technology. He is Editor-in-Chief of International Journal of Geoinformatics. His research interest are Geoinformatics Applications for Location Based Services, Health, Forest, Environment, Marine and Coastal Zone Monitoring. He has authored around 131 papers in International Journals and International Conference Proceedings. He is also author of a book “Remote Sensing in Geosciences”. He is recipient of DAE Young Scientists Award, AICTE Career Award, and Osaka City University Distinguished Researcher Award. In addition several of his papers were awarded Best Paper in International Conferences. He has carried out sponsored projects from European Union, UNEP, Royal Thai Government, Government of India, Private Sectors. He has been actively involved in conducting training programs for UNODC, UNEP, FAO, Forestry Dept. of Nigeria, GISTDA Thailand, MACRES Malaysia and several others. Dr. Tripathi was working from 1989 to 1999 in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India prior to joining Asian Institute of Technology in 1999. He has published 1 book, 11 chapters in books, 73 research papers in peer reviewed Journals and 58 conference papers. He has guided 93 Masters students and 23 Doctoral students.
